"The Visiting Team was impressed by the dedication of Gatewood School's hardworking faculty, wellrounded students, and passionate parent body. Clearly, those engaged with this school cherish it, hold it's mission and values dear, and are willing to spend enormous amounts of time and energy to help insure it's success............The same challenges that face all independent schools face Gatewood as well: managing enrollment, recruiting and retaining faculty, diversifying the student body, integrating educational technology, and modernizing its curriculum, among others. That Gatewood manages to do this -- and do it well -- with limited resources in a local community where private school education is not a foregone conclusion is a significant achievement. Building the new high school building and determining how it will proceed with either building a new GLO facility or fully merging the two schools into one will be very important next steps in the school's immediate future. In conclusion, the Visiting Team finds
1. that the school is in compliance with all standards of the SAIS accreditation process.
2. that the self-study conducted by the school meets the standard of quality and thoroughness required by the SAIS accreditation process and answers the four critical questions as outlined in the Guidebook.
3. that the school is unanimously recommended for SAIS accreditation".
All of you had far more to do with the success of our visit than you know. Our self-study, coupled with data collected from you during the past 18 months was instrumental in confirming that we are in full compliance of the rigorous standards required for accreditation.
Everyone including students, teachers, parents, and alumni should be pleased with our accomplishment. This is an indicator that we are continuing to pursue excellence in all that we do. I thank each of you for the critical roles you play in our success.
